Mango Mania – Mango Hand Block Print on Begampur Cotton Saree

There once was a small girl from a small town and she had three mango trees in the backyard of her house. Lyangra, himsagar and another local variety which used to be so sour that her mother would use them only for achars and aam pora sherbets .

This small girl would climb up the trees to pluck mangoes and enjoy the view from the topmost branch. When the small town would get rocked by strong kalboishakhis, she would wait patiently for the storm and rain to subside and then rush outside to chase off the children from the nearby slum who would jump over the walls and come to collect the mangoes that would fall off . You see it was not so much about the fruit , it was more about the adventures associated with it .
